When should a diesel generator change oil?
Under normal circumstances, new units change oil after 50 hours of first operation and 50 hours after intermediate or overhaul. The oil replacement cycle is performed at the same time as the oil filter (filter element). Generally, the oil replacement cycle is 250 hours or one month. When using type 2 oil, the oil can be replaced only after 400 hours of extended work, but the oil filter (filter element) must be replaced. If you want to accurately determine the replacement time of diesel generators, you need to know some of them:
1. Use two glass test tubes with a diameter of 0.5 cm and a length of 20 cm, and fill them with 19 cm of new and used engine oil. After sealing, the two tubes are turned upside down at the same time. Record the rise time of the bubbles. %, It means that the viscosity of the used oil has fallen too much and should be replaced.
2. Compare one drop of new oil and used oil on white filter paper. If there are more black spots in the used oil drops, it means that the oil has not deteriorated and should not be replaced. If the oil is dark brown, then For deterioration, it should be replaced.
It should also be noted that the oil used by diesel generators of different manufacturers and different power is different, so when you buy a diesel generator, you must ask the manufacturer what kind of oil the unit uses.
